I Don’t Need the Eight-Armed Octa-Flex Lift But I Want One!

BendPak is one of the go-to companies when it comes to lifting vehicles into the air. They produce all sorts of 2- and 4-post lifts, different-height scissor-style lifts, lifts for boats, lifts for parking solutions, and way more. Their newest lift, though, is one that I find particularly interesting. It’s called the Octa-Flex EV12DPS, and it has the standard four lifting points but then adds another set of four arms for additional lifting possibilities.

BendPak is showing this as a means to safely work on electric vehicles. You can lift the vehicle, then bring the auxiliary arms into place and easily remove the battery pack. Another cool thing you can do, however, is cab-off truck work or really any work where you could separate a body and a frame.

I Don’t Need the Eight-Armed Octa-Flex Lift But I Want One!

I don’t need this lift, nor do I have the space for such a lift, but I find it a pretty smart solution for those who do. Now I’m wondering how crafty wrenches could use it. For example, could you put a removable platform onto the auxiliary arms to raise and lower a transmission? I’m sure you reading this could think of a few ways for it to help your own project.

The main arms can handle up to 12,000 pounds. Those extra arms can handle 2,500 pounds. The actual restraint system itself keeps the arms locked in place with what’s described as over 2,000 pounds of load-holding force. Basically, that means the arms aren’t going anywhere when you have them locked in place.

BendPak will display this new lift system at the upcoming SEMA show in November, which runs from the 5th through the 8th.
