Front Porch Pumpkin Decorating Ideas and Fall Decor

Tis is technically a front porch pumpkin decorating idea, but I don’t have a front porch. I have a stoop, but we are going to call it a “porchette” instead. Even with a small front space there are lots of decorating possibilities with some Front Porch Pumpkin Decorating Ideas. We re-did our front walk a few years ago to give it a more organic and cottage feel. Then added lots of oranges and  and fall flowers like sedum and mums, they are such classic fall flowers. I love it looks when I walk up to the front of our home. It can create a cozy small cottage-style look to the front of a home.

Add Layers of Pumpkins to a Fall Front Porch but Keep the Walkway Clear

Creating a cozy and welcoming outdoor front door entryway is the perfect way to greet guests, or in our case delivery people. One thing about pumpkins as fall decor is that one or two is amazing, but layering them with different sizes  with larger pumpkins and little pumpkins really makes an impact. Using hay bales as way to add height also looks interesting and fall-ish. Just make sure to keep everything to the edges and far enough away from bring a trip hazard.

Add Fall Flowers in Planters and Pots for Front Porch Pumpkin Decorating Ideas

Mums and fall flowers look elegant and eye-catching in pretty urns or planters. If you’re home is white or a very light color, use fall hues such as bright orange, dark purple mums or yellow. If your home is a dark color such as blue, gray or black, opt for lighter colors such as light yellow or white mums. Along with mums, don’t pass up Asters as a pretty fall flowers, and ornamental kale is another great option.

Add a Welcoming Touch with a Front Door Wreath or Welcome Mat

I added an extra landing when we redid the walkway area and it extends it a little bit which I love. I added a very cute hello doormat just before you go in. It gives me a place to put an extra pre-dirty shoe mat and few extra pumpkins.

A doormat with the text "Happy HELLO-ween" written in playful script is adorned with drawings of a spider and pumpkins. Nearby, a white pumpkin, a pair of black boots, and a pot of orange flowers hint at the festive October vibes and seasonal decor!

Cluster Pumpkins and Mums Together for Impact

While pumpkins can be fun on their own, clustering them with the softness of flowers makes for a really pretty fall display. The colorful flowers are really some of my favorite things of fall foliage.

Mix and Match Real and Faux Pumpkins

On our porchette I’ve mixed faux and real pumpkins for the last 10 years (shhh….don’t tell anyone!) It not only does it cut down on the cost of buying pumpkins year after year, but it fools the critters like squirrels for a while too. Also add lots of different color pumpkins. Orange pumpkins are traditional, but it’s fun to add other colors such as blue or green pumpkins into the fall mix.

Outdoor deck decor with pumpkins

Decorating for a fall porch when it’s still warm outside and not quite Halloween season can feel a little disjointed. Keeping greenery like ferns is perfectly fine. Add other items such as a cozy throw blanket and throw pillows under a covered porch. Wheat in a vase adds nice texture and pumpkins and gourds clustered together add so many fall vibes with Front Porch Pumpkin Decorating Ideas.
