Perhaps you noticed in the most recent Fixer Upper reveal of the Lakehouse that Joanna chose a group of birds not once but twice to add interest to the walls of the living room and bathroom. A carved wood flock of three appears in the main living room and a brass trio hangs above the bathtub in the primary bath (see below).
She recognizes when filling wall space there are many alternatives to canvas and framed art, and I was delighted to see our feathered friends appear as decor in this stunning renovation. Notice how smooth silhouettes, singular tones, and abstract shapes are the more modern approach to decorating with birds on a wall or shelf.

I too have collected shapely birds as decor, I have a porcelain dove and a pair of brass bird bookends that adorn the shelves of my home office, and a white ceramic cockatoo sits on a perch on a shelf in my primary bathroom.
If you are a collector or are looking to creatively fill a space on your walls, below find a modern collection of birds to add whimsy to your spaces.
