One thing nobody tells you when you’re in throes of young motherhood is that your life actually gets busier when your kids get older–even when they’re drivers. How I once had five kids under the age of eight and managed to blog every day is now one of life’s great mysteries to me. (What was I trying to prove?) In the event a few of you are still reading blogs, this is me checking in to say hello.
What I’ve been up to lately:
Graduation prep. For the second year in a row, we have a high school graduate and for those of you who have been there, done that, you know that May is no joke. We’re hosting a celebration for her later this month and she’ll head to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (yay!) in the fall.
Driving far distances to sit on lots of bleachers. That would pretty much sum up most of our weekends. Trying to figure out how to watch three people play three different games at three different places is a puzzle, but it’s a fun season of life.
Taking an unintentional break from posting on social media. It’s been several months since I’ve regularly posted on Instagram. It wasn’t on purpose; I just felt like I had nothing to say. Nothing makes me more tired than just posting daily for the sake of the algorithm/engagement/whatever you want to call it. Instagram feels overcrowded and less fun. And honestly, I’m less interested in sharing every thought I have online as I get older. . .
Once again reevaluating my blog. I think it will be interesting to see how the constant changes affect social media over time. Instead of keeping up with all of that, I plan to keep posting periodically to my blog and to get back to sending out my email newsletter. (You can subscribe here.) It seems like a slower paced, more intentional way to share ideas and I’m on board with that.
A new creative partnership. I have been working with a company to create some fun ads and I should be able to share the first one with you next week. It’s been good to have a creative outlet and a deadline, and I love how it turned out. It’s also made me think about how I want to create going forward. I love pulling designs together but never want to get back into the rat race of an interior design business. Do you find value in seeing design boards online? Or are they too abstract to be useful? Would love to hear your thoughts.
