How to Style the Same Faux Fall Leaf Branch 3 Different Ways

  • Flip on Flipboard

Do you decorate your home for fall with faux fall leaf stems or branches that you bring out of your decor stash every year? Do you use them in the same way every fall or in the same room?

If so, here are a few ideas on how you can style them in different ways that will give your classic faux fall stems and branches a fresh new look for your fall decor this year.

I bought these 3 faux Oak leaf branch bouquets a few years ago at Hobby Lobby. I love the colors and versatility. I bring them out to decorate my house for fall every September.

What I know many of us do year after year when we bring out seasonal decor from our decor stash is we use the decor in the same way we did the year before.

Instead, lets stop this practice and think of new ways to style and display them beyond what we have always done in past years.

Faux Fall Leaf Branch Styling Ideas

These ideas are only a few ways to style faux leaf branches that I have done in past years. I am sure that with some thought you can come up with even more ideas on how to maximize the styling options of decorating with faux fall leaves.

1. Place In a Planter or Large Basket

Placing faux fall leaves in a large basket or planter in an empty fireplace is an easy and popular way to style them in your home for fall.

Use plastic bags or scrunched up paper to fill the planter or basket 3/4’s of the way full. Pull the leaves apart and place them in the center and let them fall. Use your fingers to bend and shape to arrange the leaf bouquets so they gently spill over the top edge of the planter or basket.

To change the look from year to year, place the filled basket next to a piece of furniture in any room instead of in the fireplace.

2. Hang on a Door

Use the same faux leaves on the exterior of your home. Fill a hanging basket with plastic bags so that the branches spill out over the top. This will ensure that they don’t fall down into the basket.

Once in the basket, use your hands to arrange the leaves so they are evenly spread out along the top edge of the basket.

Here you can find hanging baskets.

3. Remove the Leaves From the Branches

Just because the faux branches are intact with leaves doesn’t mean they have to stay that way.

For a totally different look, remove a few of the leaves from the branches and arrange them separately around a candle placed in a bowl filled with acorns to create a fall table centerpiece.

TIP: To remove the leaves, find the least seen branch and simply slide the leaves up and off the wire branch they are on.

Another way to style the same faux leaves is to remove the leaves from the branches and hot glue each pair or a single one to bare branches that you cut from trees in your yard and place in a large heavy planter.

Place in an entry or foyer to make a grand impression.

More Styling Ideas for Faux Leaf Branches

  • Bend the stems in half to shorten the branches. Use your fingers to spread the leaves out to hide the folded over section. Doing this will allow you to arrange the stems/branches across a mantel or to place in a dough bowl and still be able to unbend them and use as long stems in the future.
  • Cut the stems to shorten them. Cut a piece of Styrofoam to a size you would like a centerpiece or table decoration to be. Place candle holders on top of foam then poke cut ends of the cut stems into the foam block until covered.

As I mentioned above these are only a few ideas, I am sure with some creative thinking you can come up with even more ways to decorate your home for fall with the same faux branches every year.
